Good health is shaped by more than exercise. Australia’s updated 24-hour movement guidelines bring physical activity, sitting and sleep together to support wellbeing across the whole day.
A Healthy 24 Hours
- Move: Be active most days and include several hours of light movement.
- Strengthen: Add strength exercises twice a week and balance or mobility activities three times a week.
- Sit Less: Break up long periods of sitting as often as possible.
- Sleep Well: Adults should aim for 7–9 hours, or 7–8 hours for older adults.
Start Small
A short walk, a regular movement break or a consistent bedtime can be a useful first step. If pain, injury or a health condition makes activity difficult, our allied health team can help you find a safe and practical starting point.
